Lear70 - I worked on the ground in Taipei for 18 months.
I think it's a hard place to live if you've got family.
High levels of pollution, very little green, lots of traffic and lots of traffic jams. I lived in the ex-pat area in Tien Mu to the north of Taipei:
30 minutes drive from CKS at good times.
2 hours at bad! Really no fun after a hard day.
But if you're a single man, I think you will enjoy the social life outside of work. Nudge, wink.
I didn't work for EVA, but I heard a lot of stories.
