CASA crackdown on helicopter record maintenance
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority, CASA, is moving to crack down on helicopter pilots who may be fudging their flying hours or maintenance records.
CASA says under-recording of flying hours is believed to have contributed to at least three fatal chopper accidents in recent years.
It's proposing that Australia's 650 single-engined helicopters would be required to fit tamper-resistant electronic timers, costing $5,000."
