It has happened a lot in the helicopter force. However, that was because of market forces, too many Navs and a shortage of pilots. In the current 'pilot surplus', x-overs will be rare. That said, you have to have a lottery ticket to be in the draw, so being a Nav is the first step.... Its not easy!!
