What's your OS?
If it's XP go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services. Scroll down to Messenger. Right click on it, select Properties then select disable.
This service was disabled by default by MS in XP SP2 as their way of minimizing a security vulnerability.
The question is if you're getting console messages you don't want, who's sending them
