I have recently brought this up with my FM, who actually confirmed this is being seriously looked at as a possible idea. "It may happen, or it may not" was also the phraseology, and it was then pointed out that this phraseology had been used and proved on several occasions before - mainly relating to imminent/possible/probable base closure.
Expect an announcement soon was the only thing which finally prevented me from believing it any further. I have to think this is a pity, because as someone else already noticed, all the bits which have been sold off have nearly instantaneously made a profit, from cargo (GSS) to lo-cost. Sorry, of course Babs was the exception, BA sold that one off even though (or mayhap because) it was such a success.
