RV6-VNE. I was in Port Moresby and remember when the locals first got drinking rights! Their drinking hole was "The Snake Pit" under the bottom pub.

At closing time the steel shutters were lowered (later welded in the closed position and holes cut to pass a drink through) and the fire hoses turned on!

Mention of tunes - anyone remember "You'll come a kaikai the buai with me" sung to Waltzing Matilda? That must have been late 60's and was very popular at the time.

Sharpie, here's one incident you may remember - I don't recall the details now. Shortly after the Gateway was built (either in the late Patair days or early Ansett ownership days) there was a debate between the Gateway manager and another patron regarding their cars. From memory one of the vehicles was an E Type Jaguar?

The arguement was settled around mid night with a drag down the runway at Jacksons. Caused a stir at the time.
