Airlines have been told to quote all-inclusive fares in their advertising
Then every time the government or airport authority increases the taxes/fees, the consumer just perceives that the
airline has become more expensive. I’m all for keeping the basic fare separate from the taxes and fees so the consumer can clearly see how much of their money is going to whom.
Would public pressure have persuaded the government cut intra-EEA shorthaul economy Air Passenger Duty from £10 to £5 if airlines had just been burying the duty in their basic fares?
