I understand that 3,000 hrs is for direct entry of A340. This is indeed very low. Doesn't Etihad think of Flight Safety. This number of hours is easily obtained.
Surely there are no many pilots for A340 around and Emirates had to changed its policy to accept Direct entry but they are very carefull in selectiobn and not anyone can get through until unles all requirements are met.
Youn, You may be correct but I thought that Emiraes hours is 5,000 and not 10,000.
