I run a pair of WD Raptor 10,000RPM 8Mb Cache SATA Drives and their performance on RAID 0 is impressive:



Maybe those looks you got were envy.

As for hooking up SATA Drives, you should have two SATA interfaces.

The speed of your RAM is DDR266 which is 133Mhz accessed twice per clock cycle.

P.S. I switched from Maxtor to Western Digital when the JB line of drives came out. I have not thought about switching back since.
