Dunno about airlines, but have you tried applying to East Midlands Airport, Brum Airport, etc? in my experience, airports are quite acocmodating and you can get some good trips out (a trip to Tees Tower and a blitz down the runway on an inspection were highlights of my WExp). At the very least you'll get a polite letter back saying "thanks, but no". Nothing ventured nothing gained.
