It's wierd, Richard. I just ftp'd from both the German Nero site (where I had the problem) and the US mirror in both Slimbrowser and IE, and everything is now ok.
Maybe the ether was a bit thick on the first attempt
(You probably already know, but for the benefit of others, Slimbrowser is a tabbed browser shell built around the IE engine. It's only a 1.4meg download, so I imagine you're only downloading the shell, the innards are already installed by default on any Windows machine. It is easy to give it a trial run - it doesn't interfere with any other browser at all, so it's easy to dump if you don't like it. Security in IE and hence Slimbrowser has not been an issue because I keep everything up to date. Personally, I like it. I find it difficult to choose between it and Opera. But that's a different topic
