Melchett, sacking blerks whilst on det has happened before I am afraid. I clearly remember guys getting their marching orders (comp redundancy) immediately the fighting had finished whilst still in the Falklands awaiting "transport" back to blighty in 1982.
No senior officers resigned over that particular piece of appauling timing and I don't suppose any will dream of doing it this time.
It's a sad old game.
