Unless I've mis-understood things completely, there's another cheeky comment buried in the middle of this paper that deals with dets.

If you PVR or are due to leave within a certain timeframe, you cannot be jiffed for a det. However, unless I'm mistaken, they have stated that anyone up for the chop that is due to go away will be forced to go on det before they leave. Surely this is a bit contradictory, and how do people go about their re-settlement procedures if they're stuck on det.

Also, to my mind, could be potentially dangerous - wouldn't it be a good idea to tell someone they've been sacked then send them off on det with a loaded weapon. Not that I'm suggesting we'll have thousands of 'Private Piles' running round Iraq, but surely going on ops, you want to be sending people who care about what they are doing and still have a bit of loyatly to the service and their mates and will get job done rather than gaffing it off because they've already been sacked.
