Call me a cynic ...

(Chorus: "Cynic!!!")

I recall a number of tales of Army personnel who were manning-controlled and subsequently mobilised - one went to Kosovo on peace support ops.

The obvious difference here is that their further service attracted no additional pension costs!

So, how likely is it that personnel may find themselves made redundant and, a few months later, find themselves the lucky recipient of a brown envelope telling them to pitch up with the remnants of their blues?

And, how likely is it that said brown envelope may be thrown in the bin propelled by a few expletives? Loyalty is a two way street, after all! And I can't see the "system" coping with a mass discarding of brown envelopes!

I have no vested interest as my exit date is before 08. However, I wouldn't like to find myself leaving the Retired List to prop up a service that had made the stupid error of cutting back too deeply just to support one of our psychopathic leader's new wars!!!
