I seem to remember some fairly scathing comments being made about John Palmer's appointment coming from certain directions about 2 1/2 years ago.
Along the lines of 'what would a greengrocer know about running an airline' etc etc.
Well, quite a lot it would seem!!
I think he lets Ralph and the mangement team get on with the job and then he and the board ask the right questions when things are put before them for approval.
'Responsible governance' is, I believe, the current buzz-phrase for it.
Not like the old days when it seemed that the Brierley dominated board dictated what was going to be done regardless of what management thought was best.
That was 'irresponsible governance' at the very best!!!
