I am getting a bit fed up with attacks on BALPA which suggest that somehow they are supposed to provide a backbone for pilots who are unwilling to stand up for themselves.
BALPA are supposed to act as most other Unions do! A Union........well........unifies. BALPA don't unify.
"Pilots standing up for themselves" as you put it equals individuals with zero clout.
Pilots competently represented under a Union "banner" equals a potentially powerful force (unless that Union is incompetent at unifying it's members, as per BALPA!)
Sorry to state the obvious function of a Union. Seems as if some of you are'nt aware of it!
