On what I think is the same subject: I am doing a standalone FAA PPL but the FAA now appear to require a validation from the CAA, confirming my present details. Is this really correct? One should be able to do a standalone FAA PPL without having anything to do with the CAA; let's say you never had a UK license?
I suppose this is because I am not doing the entire FAA PPL training but making use of my existing training. Which in turn means I must be known to the CAA, so the FAA require them to certify I exist...
For a piggyback license, it would be more obvious.
