Hmmm, lets dig for past memories:

I remember that we had to fly two or three sessions on this "thing". It consisted of a kind of speed indicator (no units), directional gyro and altimeter.

The speed indicator was directly connected to the throttle: More throttle, instantaneous speed increase in relation to throttle movement... I'm not sure, if while descending and climbing, the speed changed or not.

The directional gyro was set up like a clock, I believe.

The altimeter had only quarterturn marks on it.

The tasks were to fly according the commands of the lady sitting just behind the poor guys. E.g.: Fly two turns on the directional gyro, climb one turn in the same time on the altimeter (so to finish both turnings simultaneously), keep speed x, each quarter turn of the altimeter push on a button on the yoke, each half turn of the directional gyro push a button on the floor with your foot...

On top of that they gave calculations, like 3 times 245. The result was meant to be inserted into an counter on the yoke and the be confirmed by pushing another button.

The last session - I remember it lively - they gave an additional mean thing to do: On top of this "Gubsomat-thing" there were two indicators showing weird signs (like inverted numbers and letters). They popped up all 3 seconds or so. Now: If the two signs were the same, one was meant to step on the again another button on the floor...

So, the candidate was sitting at this thing, stamping on the floor, tortureing the yoke and throttle and pushing buttons and most possibly muttering half loudly the calculations... I wouldn't have been surprised if the had let me do hand stands and clap my feet in the same time.....

Yes, thats how the treated us. Any questions?
