I wouldn't spend the cash on a flash kneeboard untill you know exactly what suits. Grab a couple of cheap plastic clipboards and use them. Get a colour that you can write handy hints on. A couple of bulldog clips and elastic bands and you're sorted.

If you're going to do the ATPL's you may as well get the CRP5 now. I use one of those small Jepp nav computers because they fit in my shirt pocket.

Don't worry about an expensive calculator. A nice simple cheap one that can fit in your shirt pocket is all you'll need for your flying. (Scientific calculator is useful for the exams)

Nav bag. At the moment, use a cheap bag that holds every thing. A fabric one is spot on as it's light and can be stuffed between seats. It certainly doesn't need to be a proper aviator's bag. I used a satchel for years bush flying. I found a big leather pilot's bag too heavy and too big for small piston aircraft.
if you're worried about a bag loose in the cockpit, a carabiner will keep it firmly anchored in place.

What you will need is a water bottle. Dehydration is a problem and to grab a sip of water every now and then is a godsend.

I guess what I am trying to say is "make do" initially untill you know exactly what will work for you.
You can use getting the PPL a perfect excuse for your family/friends to buy you what you now want.

Enjoy.
