I think "winning the battle" is overstating the truth a tad, don't you? Look at the orders for A3456 and 773ER and 772LR. Count the number of aircraft and the number of carriers for each, and I think one will probably find that if there is a winner, the A3456 is probably it right now.
SQ, though, can change all of that..... It depends if they want to have a sole manufacturer for the airframe or a sole manufacturer for the engines, I suppose. Presumably SQ know the terms of the VS deal and will use it as leverage. It makes one wonder if VS have been told what SQ are going to do...
