Not sure if the base will close, might be ket for TACEVALs, handed over to the USN or the army or mothballed. The question is what happens to the airfield - runways, ATC, aids etc. It has the locals worried about "Newquay Intl". That will not, apparently, be decided until an airfield review is finished in 2005.
