Jetstar cuts Hobart flights

Jetstar cuts Hobart flights

Budget airline Jetstar says it has been forced to cut some flights in and out of Hobart until the end of the month.

The airline has confirmed it dropped two return flights between Hobart and Melbourne today.

Passengers on those flights were found seats on other services.

The airline says a total of 15 return flights are being cut from today until July 31.

Spokesman Simon Westaway says Jetstar remains committed to Tasmania, and this is only a short-term measure during the off-season.

"From a commercial perspective we do need to be in a position to be flexible with our schedule from time to time," he said.

"We do it in a way that has limited impact on passengers, but importantly it has a positive operational impact to allow us to continue to sustain the levels of low fares that we're putting into the marketplace."
