IN FCA you're trained on 757, A320, A321.
As soon as they make you
permanent you drop one of the airbuses (nowadays you drop the A321 if you're at LGW and the A320 if at MAN) and you get your 767 qualification.
They don't train newbies on the longhaul aircraft until they're made permanent (at the end of october) because this is a way to recognise those ppl who just want a few "weeks off" in the maldives and those who really want to do this job and are willing to stay.
I think it's fair enough.
Long haul isn't all "happy and glamourous" anyway. In FCA you're
NOT ALLOWED to close your eyes even for a minute. No cabin crew rest area and it's severely prohibited to take a nap, even if you're on an 11 hour night sector from PVR, after a minimum rest. (I tried my best when I was there, I swear, but they just don't listen....maybe a visit from the CAA?)
Good luck!!
