How long before some bright spark in EY says: I know, let's fly from here to SYD/MEL/PER/AKL and we can established a hub for through traffic to LHR.
Personally I hope this does happen. Just as I welcome the addition of VS to the long monopolised Kangaroo route. Getting home to AKL is a real pain at the moment and transiting at LAX is just a hassle I don't need. Whereas once there were a number of airlines flying individually to AKL now both Star (ANZ) and Oneworld (BA/QF) dominate and the introduction of some non affiliated carriers is needed.
