I have a copy of XP Pro, which I bought in Baku (Azerbijan) for the pricely sum of $3. (It says its genuine, honest, so I guess Microsoft has got a different licencing strategy in the former soviet states
) Seems to work, whatever hardware I use it on
Seriously though, you can change your hardware, it just means a phonecall to Microsoft.....but I agree, its a pain in the arse!
