I can see exactly where you're coming from with regard to some airfields being "interesting" and others not but I wouldn't agree with your example.
I would personally say that Old Buckenham is VERY interesting for the following reasons:
1. It has an incredible history.
2. Somebody has recently given it a complete new lease of life with a huge investment of time and money.
3. There are some incredible a/c in the hangars and people are welcome to view them.
4. There are some excellent events there annually and a close knit community.
Shoreham...........has history but as far as I'm concerned its "interestingness" ends there.
1. It has the usual hoards of gold bar clad people strutting the pilot walk everywhere.
2. It is about as friendly as a pit-bull on the veterinary table.
3. Go near a hangar and an automated system rings the police.
4. The museum is closed whenever I have tried to go in.
I suppose the little TV over the reception is slightly interesting if you forgot what time you touched down!!!
