Sounds like a Band-Aid reaction to the problem.
The true advantage of the 7E7 is that the aircraft systems in the airframe are built around the engines and so can take full advantage.
To go changing things in the Airbus in terms of systems inherent in the airframe is both foolhardy and thoughtless in my opinion without knowing alot about the engines in the first place.
Forgive me for thinking but I would say bleed air to the cabin was an important issue.
