Many years ago a US Navy Chief was stopped when leaving the base (NAS Memphis, Tennessee) when the gate guard noticed some large object hanging under his vehicle. It turned out that the large object was a propeller for an SNJ (Harvard). The chief was in charge of disposing of surplus property and over the period of several years he had been appropriating the parts to build an SNJ. With the propeller he could put it into the air.
Or the old story about the worker in a German WW II munitions plant. Each night when leaving the facility he was pushing a wheelbarrow full of straw. Each night the same guard would check to see what was in the straw. This went on for a year when the guard told the man that each time he inspected the wheelbarrow and the straw he found nothing. He asked the man what he was stealing telling him that he was going to the Russian front and most likely would not return. He pleaded with the man to tell him. The man told him he was stealing wheelbarrows.
