There was a midair off the coast of Florida back in the 80s, if memory serves, where a Beechey heading north from one of the caribbean islands was intercepted by a couple of F4s.
I think the guy was flying VFR in IFR without an activated flightplan or some such... anyway, one of the militaries got a bit too close and took the tail and canopy out a la boiled egg with its wing.
Nevertheless, the F4 got home safely with just a few scrapes while the Beechey was never seen or heard from again (passengers' personal effects and a couple of lifejackets aside).
Point being, sometimes one aircraft gets to go home after a midair (usually the bigger boy!) but its not often that both do.
Interesting case. Someone, somewhere knows what the red transfer material is...
