J Bloke,
“Screaming around the car park doing donuts”.
Certainly they were.
The car was probably delivered full of fuel.
It is all part of the pre loading and DAC safety check.
If you have ever had to siphon a fuel tank orally, you will know that the easiest way to get the fuel level down is simply to burn it off.
As for the donuts – well unfortunately JATE never managed to work out a tie down scheme for every vehicle.
The guys were obviously working out the level of travel on the suspension, to ascertain the number of chains required to lash round the brake pipes.
Makes for a much safer flight for you guys
