timzsta, I think your post shows an eminently sensible and "real world" approach to the subject, and in most cases this is exactly how things run on the flight deck.
Both pilots looking out for each other, using their knowledge, experience and CRM skills
appropriately as the situation demands, coupled with an understanding of the Commander's responsibities. Spot on in my opinion.
