Thanks for your comments, I'll bear them in mind in future, although it was almost 25 years ago now. If you had read and understood the tone of my post I immediately knew it wasn't a good thing to do, even before the crewman discussed it with me, although there was actually plenty of room.
Having said that, had the IGB ever actually been crossed from east to west, NO pilot in his right mind would have been slowing down to a slow hover taxy as per the "set piece" taught on the OCU, let me assure you....
p.s. It wasn't an aeroplane.
