There are a lot of good things about working with EZY, and as Greaser implies, one of them is the good working atmosphere among the crews and groundstaff.

However, that is driven by the people themselves, and not a product of the company's attitude towards its staff.

EZY really could be a career airline one day - the basic ingredients are there.

There are just some attitudes that have persisted from the time that it was a 2-airplane operation out of a shed at Luton, ingrained with a fear among several long-established managers, that a change towards a more "traditional" airline model (eg. rostering agreements, annual pay and T&Cs reviews with union reps, pension agreements etc) would betray or irrevocably undermine the whole "Orange - Dare to be Different" thing.

One of the harsh realities of rapid growth and expansion is that you can't be a family business anymore - or if you do want to try to stay as a family, you have to hand over the reins to the next generation. It's sad for the diehards, but EZY has to change to cope with its rapid growth. If that means losing a lot of the old ethos - unfortunately that what it has to take.

Most people would agree that EZY isn't the job it could be, whether they enjoy working there or not. But it is screaming out to be better! It wouldn't take much, just a change of heart. But that may be too much to ask of the people at the top.
