I have worked now for Easy for almost a year and am actually quite happy. Most people have treated me fairly and rostering/crewing have always been very accomodating.
As far as staff travel, I understand the frustration. From past experience though with BA concessions, the problem with standby passengers is the problem of picking up delays. Many times I have seen late departures because of staff being issued boarding passes at the very last minute. Then you have to wait for them to sit down and often wait for their rush bags to be loaded. Of course, if you have on top of that only 20-25 min turn arounds this could lead to delays and overstressed ground staff. I am sure that Easy can eventually set up some sort of standby system that avoids all of the above, but it will take time to develop and fine tune it as to smoothly fit in with the operations.
