The administration's actions with regard to Iran (or most things really) are easily explained. And of course they are not the only bad actors in this piece.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The famous phrase was written by the 19th-century British historian and politician Lord Acton (John Emerich Edward Dalberg-Acton)

He originally expressed this sentiment in an 1887 letter to an Anglican bishop, writing: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men."
