Yes similar experience - FAA seem all to keen on inspecting foreign facilities - however when I visited 2 facilities in MIA for possible sub contract of our HMV's I found standards on many issues were frankly appauling and not what the FAA insisted upon for us?! Same when I flew on a certain US LCC with DC9's and B737-200's...scary state of the aircraft/operation!
