I was surprised at the announcement that we'd denied thier use to target civilian infrastructure - The "defensive operations only" line was given weeks ago. Unless bridges have suddenly started to be thrown at Cyprus, my conclusion is that a specific request was made, or it was reiterated in that form to disassociate the UK from the potential action of last night. Regards the BUFFs departure with JASSMS - my understanding is that weapon could reasonably been construed as one used in defence - at missile sites for example, but my concern, which I voiced to my MP yesterday evening, was that if used in coordination with action that POTUS had threatened, surely embroiled the UK in the operation and that those flights also should have been/should be denied.
