I get confused with all that negotiations in a triangle. Who negotiates is not who makes the calls as it seems.
It's common to use intermediaries when there is such animosity between parties.
Then each sends their envoys with a list of what they are and are not prepared to accept.
You try find a compromise between those conflicting objectives, leveraging your strengths as much as possible.
Not always possible with such polar opposite ideals and expectations.
