Surely the cost would have been minimal in the grand scheme of the project or is the comms blackout not considered important?
What advantage would be gained ? That's a lot of cash just to solve a minor inconvenience. IIRC, the loss and return of signal on Apollo was used to verify the navigation calculations so it served a purpose.
