Refractive error
Hi,
Just a copy-paste from the rules, that you can find if you google "EASA medical requirements"
Distant visual acuity, with or without correction, shall be 6/9 (0,7) or better in each eye separately and visual acuity with both eyes shall be 6/6 (1,0) or better.
Power of glasses for unfit:
Hypermetropia not exceeding +5.0 dioptres; myopia not exceeding –6.0 dioptres; astigmatism not exceeding 2.0 dioptres; anisometropia not exceeding 2.0 dioptres.
What I do not have clear is if the total myopia/hyperopia is calculated taking into account the spherical equivalent of an associated astigmatism. The spherical equivalent is the addition of the spheric power (myopia or hyperopia) with the spherical equivalent of the astigmatism (half the power of the total amount). So, the question is if you can have +5.0 Hyperopia with up to 2 diopters of + astigmatism or -6.0 myopia with up to 2 diopters of - astigmatism or the limit is adding up the spherical errors with the astigmatism.
