Not only national rules which are limiting, there are several countries which you can not operate into as a captain once you turn 65.
In Australia there is nothing to limit you flying past 65 but international flying would be a nightmare to roster then there is always the possibility of having to divert to a prohibited port.
The options for me were to transfer to completely national flying, which several colleagues had done, or retire voluntarily which I did.
