There is never an excuse for that sort of boorish behaviour by an instructor. It reminded me of the story about a 737 flight to Apia airport in Western Samoa many years ago. The captain renowned in the company as an unpopular and sarcastc personality was PF. . On descent in IMC he ignored the MSA and continued the descent. The F/O queried this and was told to pull his head in. With that, the F/O grabbed the crash axe from its holder in the cockpit and raising it above his head told the captain to stop the descent or he would hit him with the axe. The captain had no choice and stopped further descent. Desperate times sometimes call for desperate meaures.
