Not from my experience Richard. In both civil and military training, the best inspired confidence by saying what to do, then sitting patiently allowing repeatedly practices without offering any advice or taking over to demonstrate. One who comes to mind was an ex-military fixed and rotary instructor, and the other a civilian chief helicopter pilot. Some civilian instructors were terrors though, and I never flew with a military instructor like that, but I didn't fly with so many to deny they'd exist.
