Android/UI update glitch?

Not computer-related but maybe close enough?...

I recently had an Android O/S update on my phone a couple of weeks ago (a Galaxy A14 - so not particularly high-spec). I now have version 7.0 of the "One UI" interface and Android version 15.

Ever since the upgrade my phone frequently "freezes" - the screen is unresponsive. Frequently means >30 times per day.

Making the screen responsive again requires turning the screen off, turning it on again and then frantically swiping the screen to see if the screen icons start to move. Mostly this takes between 3 and 10 goes to work.

When I receive a call (i.e. the phone "wakes up" and rings) I cannot swipe the "accept call" icon and by the the time I can flay the phone into responding at all, the caller has hung up or it's gone to voicemail.

Anyone have the same glitch, or an idea of how to fix it? I have read that rolling back a phone system update is nigh-on impossible. Thanks!
