Jet2 Q&A summary.
To summarise the Q&A for people who were unable to attend:
Jet2 are looking for motivated individuals who are passionate about aviation. They also heavily emphasised having strong customer service skills and having the ability to build rapport with colleagues.
What is being assessed in the cognitive assessment?
Jet2 are looking for potential, and people with reasonable numerical skills.
Does holding a PPL exclude me?
No, however you can't apply if you've sat CAA ATPL exams within the last 19 months due to CAA rules on time limits. You follow the same syllabus as people who have no previous experience.
Does having previously applied to other programmes (eg BA's Speedbird programme) exclude me?
No, it is independent of any other applications to other programmes.
When do courses start?
Courses start in September through to February depending on candidate availability (notice period etc) and assigned ATO.
Is there a post-training bond?
Yes, it is 5 years. If you leave earlier, you pay back your training on a pro-rata basis.
What is paid for during the programme?
Class 1 medical, accommodation, travel to overseas training facilities, references/vetting (DBS etc), and food are all paid for. Note that for ATOs that don't have a canteen, a living allowance of approximately £100 per week is provided.
What's the roster like?
Summer is pretty busy, with lots of flights. Winter is less busy, but you'll still be flying. Jet2 operate a variable roster, meaning that one week you may work 3 days, the next week you may work 6 days, for example.
Other things to note:
Jet2 emphasised that the motivational statement is looked at throughout the stages, so they said to make sure it's natural and authentic, and to stay clear of using AI etc to write it.
Jet2 handle applications in batches, so don't be alarmed if you don't hear anything back after applying. They recommend checking e-mails regularly, including spam.
Jet2 also, as part of the programme, include Discovery360, where they show you other parts of the business (operations, maintenance, etc) to show you how their airline is run and how it works. This takes 2 to 3 weeks.
