ATPL(A) advices

Hey everyone, im glad to be here…

I’m starting my ATPL theory soon (using ATP Digital), and I’ve realized that I might need more time than average to fully absorb all the material. I learn best when I can go a bit slower, use additional resources, and really understand the concepts instead of rushing through them.

The thing is, I’m also studying for an engineering degree (which can be pretty intense on its own), and I’m working on other pilot licenses alongside ATPL theory. I’ve got about 3 years to prepare before I need to have everything done, and I really want to make the most of that time.

Also, while my English is quite good, it’s not my first language — so sometimes it slows me down a little when studying technical material. It’s not a major issue, just something that adds a bit of extra time and effort.

And to be honest, when I combine ATPL study with university work, sometimes I just don’t have the energy left for anything else. It can be mentally draining, and I want to avoid burnout while still making steady progress.

So I’m wondering:

  • How did you structure your learning with ATP Digital?
  • What additional materials or methods helped you (videos, books, flashcards, question banks, etc.)?
  • How did you reinforce and retain what you learned over time?
  • Any advice on how to balance ATPL with uni and other flight training?
  • If you had 3 years just for ATPL theory, how would you plan it?

This means a lot to me, and I really want to do it right. I’d love to hear how you approached it and what worked (or didn’t) for you.

Thanks in advance!
