The Regional Airports Program that was the subject of a separate
thread makes funding available for,
inter alia, airport security fencing and gates. Over the years, a couple of regional airports have accessed that program for funding specifically for that purpose.
And on the plus side, one of the widely available commercial skillsets in regional Australia is fencing.
