Glad to see a mention of the SOE. Women agents not already in the Armed Forces joined the FANY's (First Aid Nursing Yeomanry) that dated from WW1 to give them some Service status under the Geneva Convention (duly disregarded by the enemy)..
What status could it give them ? They were spies and so liable to be executed.
