Hello everyone. I've got a bit of a silly question regarding British Phantoms maybe for the techies/former maintainers amongst you.
I've seen pictures of British Phantoms, both navy and air force with what looks like a strap across the nose when parked, just forward where the radome meets the fuselage. It looks like a McDonnell Douglas designed thing as they all have the same shape (fat top, thinner string type below). Pic attached.
Given the British and US phantoms shared the same nose (non RF and thin nose obviously) I always wonder what this was. Any ideas? Thanks.
