FAA BFR & IPC in Asia
Dear all,
Hope everyone is flying and all is good!
I have recently got an idea that is staying with me and kind of making me think a lot about, so I decided to share it here for you to provide your feedback and thoughts.
About me:
FAA CFI / CFII (close to getting my MEI and ATP), with a long experience in training Part 61 and Part 141 students in Florida.
Grew up in Bangkok, Thailand (though have never flown there).
The idea:
Providing BFR (Biennial Flight Review) and IPC (Instrument Proficiency Check) to FAA-certified pilots that reside in the region. I have access to one N-registered plane in Cambodia, another N-plane in Phuket and one more in Malaysia. Besides the endorsement itself, the sign-off will include filling out Form 8710 to make it all official with the FAA. In case an additional training is required (e.g. rusty pilot), this will be provided for an extra charge.
Questions:
What do you think of the idea overall?
Any corners to the idea that I am not seeing?
If there are FAA pilots living in SE Asia - would you be using the service?
Thank you in advance and your comments are highly appreciated!
